Audi Replacement Key
When replacing a key for an Audi B8 (A4/A5/Q5 generation, ~2008–2016). There are normally two common scenarios (adding a spare vs. all keys lost).
A — You have at least one working key (add a spare)
This is the easiest and cheapest route.
What is needed:
- VIN and proof of ownership (recommended to have on hand).
- An Original Working key
B — All keys lost
This is more complex because the car won’t authenticate any key — you must prove ownership and extract the immobilizer data to make a new key.
What is needed:
- VIN and proof of ownership (recommended to have on hand).
- Often ECU/BCM removal or module data reading is required.
- Or a Brand New key set from the Dealer (Expensive).
Cut the blade and program remote/transponder.
Module cloning / replacements — sometimes BCM2 or ECU replacement requires adaptation and possibly online authorization (component protection). This is more expensive and complex.
